Squarespace Fonts – Important Tips and Facts

Squarespace provides you huge free selection of around 1600 font families, which consists of 600 Google fonts and 1000 Adobe fonts.
Squarespace, sometimes, does not support, same formatting options for some fonts, as provided by Adobe Fonts and Google Fonts. For example, Google Fonts, provide 18 styles for Montserrat font, including 9 weight options and Italic options for each weight.
However, Squarespace provides, only two weight options (400 & 700) with no Italic styling. Though, it is not a serious drawback, as Squarespace provides most popular and demanding options. Secondly, most available fonts in Squarespace, such as Roboto, have full formatting options. Whereas Italic styling is concerned, Squarespace provides you option to make any text of any font, Italic in text editor toolbar.
The latest version of Squarespace 7.1 does not support any custom font. It means that you can only select your favorite font from available list of 1600 fonts. You cannot apply any custom font, from some other source or through CSS code.
You do not need any font license to use a font on Squarespace.
No CSS knowledge is required to apply a font on your Squarespace website. Just select and instantly apply the font you like.
Fonts in Squarespace version 7.1, follow rem values for font size, which means that font size is relative to the base font size of website.
You can either use font packs in Squarespace or individually select fonts for text types such as for headings, paragraphs, buttons, quotes, titles, blog pages or store pages.
Do not use excessive number of fonts on your website, to achieve better load times of pages.
