How to Access Computer Screen of a Remote User?

You can access apps and files on another remote computer or phone. Similarly, you can also give access of your computer to a person sitting elsewhere in the world.

First person will generate an access code in Chrome Remote Desktop app and send it to another person. Second person will use that access code for temporary access to the remote device.

After every 30 minutes, the person sharing the computer will get prompts whether one wants to continue session or stop sharing it.

If you are using Windows 10 Pro, then you have built-in feature of remote desktop, right in settings of your computer.

Click ‘Start’ button (Windows logo) on your computer → Settings → System → Remote Desktop.

Please give remote access only to trusted persons as it gives full access to apps, files, emails, documents and history on your device.

How to Check Latest Features and Updates in Chrome?

To check updates and features in latest releases of Google chrome, please type or paste ‘chrome://whats-new/’ in Chrome browser and press Enter.

How to Report a Problem in Google Chrome?

In case, you encountered an error/bug or a serious problem while browsing, you can report that issue as feedback to the team at Google Chrome.

Click three dots … on top right corner of screen in Chrome browser → Help → Report an issue.

You can also include the screenshots, web address or other attachments for better communication.

How to Cast Chrome Screen of Computer Tab on TV?

You need a Chromecast, Chromecast with Google TV, Chromecast Ultra, or TV with Chromecast built-in, Wi-Fi network connection for using cast feature in Chrome.

Please note that the videos or images you cast appear on your computer and TV, but the sound only plays on your TV. Sounds for other tabs and apps will still play on your computer.

To cast your computer screen on TV, click three dots on top right corner of your Chrome browser → Cast → Sources → Cast desktop.

To cast music and videos from your computer, click arrow on ‘Sources’ and select ‘Cast file’ option.

How to Customize Shortcuts for Website Links in New Tab Page?

By default, Chrome displays shortcuts of your most visited webpages, based on your browsing history.

To customize the Chrome Shortcuts, open a new tab page by clicking plus (+) button in browser. Click pencil icon, located on the bottom right side of browser window, and select ‘Shortcuts’ option. Here you get three options to customize Shortcut links in Chrome browser.

• Hide shortcuts: Toggle ON this option if you don’t want to see shortcut links on new tab page. I will suggest you keep it OFF as shortcuts are really helpful for quickly browsing your favorite websites.

• My shortcuts: Select this option if you want to see your own specific links on new tab page. To specify your shortcuts, first select ‘My Shortcuts’ option here and then open a new tab. Here you will see ‘Add shortcut’ button as the last shortcut under Google logo. Click on it, add name of shortcut (ex. BBC) and enter URL of the webpage such as https://www.bbc.com/. Chrome automatically uses favicon of a website as icon of shortcut. Here, you can hover over an already added shortcut to edit it or remove it.

• Most visited sites: Select this option to allow Chrome to show shortcut links on new tab page, based on your browsing history. After selecting this option, if you want to remove a specific shortcut on new tab page, hover over it click ‘X’ symbol. After removing a shortcut, its placeholder will be replaced by your next most visited website during last 90 days.

You can right-click on any shortcut for more handy and useful quick options including copying the link or opening the link in new tab or window.

How to Restore Settings of Chrome Browser to Default Values?

Sometimes, you get lost in the complexity of settings in Google Chrome and then get worried for the next possibility. However, Chrome browser has provided some quick and handy solution for you. You can reset all settings of Chrome browser and reverse back to default settings of the Chrome browser.

Click three dots … on top right corner of screen in Chrome browser → Settings → Advanced → Reset and clean up → Restore settings to their original defaults.

Just hit the ‘Reset’ option from the dialog box and you are good to go. Chrome will be reset on all of your devices including mobile phone and computer.

This is quite helpful tweak as it will apply original default settings of Chrome browser, but it will not delete Bookmarks, history and saved passwords – which is quite a good option. This action to reset Chrome browser will delete extensions, cookies, and shortcuts. It will reset Google as your default search engine for Chrome browser. It will also reset your startup page, home page and new tab page.

Through this tweak, you can refresh your Chrome browser and any bugs will also be removed. You should perform this action when you doubt that some extensions or apps in Chrome have interfered or changed your web browser settings.

How to Import Data from Other Browsers into Chrome?

You can easily import your data into Chrome browser from any other browser such as Microsoft Edge, or Internet Explorer.

This is very handy feature as compared to manually copy pasting links, bookmarks, and passwords from one browser to other.

Click three dots … on top right corner of screen in Chrome browser → Settings → You and Google → Import bookmarks and settings.

You can import most data including bookmarks or favorites, browsing history, search engine. Just select your targeted browser from the drop-down list and then under ‘Select items to import’ select or unselect the options to import and then hit ‘Import’ button.

Transferring data from other browsers to Chrome browser is quite easy and a breeze.

How to Copy a Link URL from a Specific Text of a Webpage

You can generate and copy a pointed link from a specific part of page on a website. Whenever, you will open that link in future, it will directly take you to the specific text or a part on the webpage.

It is very useful feature to get a link of specific word or line in long webpage.

To do this on any website page, select or highlight a text (even a single letter or word), then right-click and select ‘Copy link to highlight’ and the pointed link will be copied. You can paste or save it anywhere such as Google Docs, a messaging app (WhatsApp), email, or MS Word document.
