Filmora Method to Crop a Photo or a Video to Remove Some Portions | Trim and Cut Method
To crop image or video in the first layer, select video and simply bring mouse cursor over any handle of video in preview and move it outside borders to scale or zoom it. The video will be automatically cropped or cut.
Here is another way to crop video through Scale tool. Click video clip in timeline and then select video panel on the right side and under Basic, move the Scale slider.
β Watch Video Tutorial below.
To restore the previous state, either use Undo button or manually enter 100 in either X or Y Scale field and press Enter.
However, to crop any image or video in upper layers (of images or videos), just click the layer and select Crop tool on timeline toolbar. Media will open in new window. Bring the mouse cursor on the corner, when the cursor becomes double arrow, click and hold and then drag it to resize it. Now release the mouse click and cursor will adopt the shape of 4-arrows. Now click on highlighted part and move it to select only the wanted portion of photo or video. Here you can select the aspect ratio of the media. Select Custom aspect ratio, if you want to crop freely and apply any crop size.
Now click Apply to save changes. Resize the video.
Letβs play it. To remove empty space on any side, open the crop tool again, and select either 1:1 ratio or select Custom . Adjust size and apply. You can also apply mask to the video for a fine crop, from the editor window on right-side panel.
You can also crop an image by repeating the same process.
If the aspect ratio values of both first layer and second are same, then the second or upper layer may sometimes overlap the first one. To make the first layer visible, just click on the second layer and then decrease its Scale value.
Next, let me explain the method to crop multiple clips at once.
Click on Effects and search for the βCropβ effect. Now drag it in timeline and set its duration to match with the multiple clips you want to crop.
Click on the crop effect and on the right-side editing panel, set the crop values for left, right, top, and bottom. All clips will get cropped.
To fit the size of clips, turn ON the toggle next to Auto Zoom. It will automatically match the width and height of clips according to your project settings.
You can crop it again if you are not happy.
