Domain Name Ideal Length - Pro Recommendations
In my opinion, a business name and its domain name should not consist of more than seven characters – letters or combination of letters and digits. Here are some practical tips about the ideal length of domain name for a business.

Your brand domain name should consist only shortest possible alphabets. Maybe 2, 3 or 4 letters but now it has become nearly impossible to attain a domain name under 4 letters, at least for a reasonable price. Always try to obtain the exact website domain as your brand. However, if your business name is long then you can try to find domain for its acronyms or initials as did by General Motors for its two letter (gm.com) domain name.
So, if you can pay a high price, then try to buy brand/domain name under 4 letters and prefer that all characters of the name should consist of letters.
Do not prefer a company name (and domain) that wholly consists of long chain of numbers. However, if you like a mix, then give preference to domain name with more alphabets and less digits such as ozo9 or okay9. According to research, adding a digit in brand name increases traffic on the website of the brand. [RD]
Along with focusing on a single short name of 4, 5 or 6 letters, you should also pay attention to the pronounceability of name. For example, RWHC may be a 4-letter short name, but it is neither smooth nor easy to pronounce and it will be hard for your customers to remember it. On the other hand, HONDA consists of 5 letters, but such name should be preferable because in Honda example, it is smooth and easier to pronounce than the short RWHC.
You can try to buy a domain name of 4 or less alphabets. Otherwise, with little search you can find a good brand/domain name of 5, 6 or 7 letters length.
Research studies have shown that websites of shorter brand names under seven characters result in pulling higher organic traffic. [RD]
Shorter domain names work best. This the reason that popular social media platform Twitter is rebranded as ‘X’, having a shortest possible (x.com) domain name. It will be easier for the Twitter users to write and remember a mere ‘X’ alphabet. But remember that such short domain names are either non-existent now or available at much expensive price.
