Method of Removing Any Color Background in Premiere Pro without Green Screen

You can use following two methods to make transparent the background of a video or animation in Adobe Premiere Pro.

To remove any single background color behind a video, open Effects panel, search ‘key’ and drag the Color Key or Ultra Key over the clip. → Watch Video Tutorial.

Adobe Premiere Pro Remove Background Method

In Effect Controls, select the color picker and drop it on the background color.

Adjust values under Matte Generation and Cleanup according to your own clip because these values will be different for each clip. For example, you can increase Transparency, Tolerance, and Contrast values.

If there is shadow over the footage, then increase the Shadow keying value.

Bring some other footage under the layer of this clip and play it to check the transparency behind footage.

No green screen is needed but make sure that you use a single background with better contrast with your own image or video - for example you can shoot a video with sky or a painted wall behind you.

You can remove any single color using this method.

However, some backgrounds are so complex that you cannot use the above method for removing their background. See next section the method.
